Hymn of the Week 2-28-06

Awake My Soul
-Sandra Mccracken

1. The image of God invisible
The firstborn of all life
Before and within,
He holds it all in
One name, one faith, one Christ

Chorus: No one is good enough
To save himself
Awake my soul tonight
To boast nothing else

2. I trust no other source or name
Nowhere else can I hide
This grace gives me fear,
and this grace draws me near
And all that it asks it provides
(Repeat chorus)

Bridge: No seam in this garment
All my rags to hide
No less than your love
For Jesus is mine

3. When I stand on the edges of Jordan
With the saints and the angels beside
When my body is healed
and the glory revealed
Then still I can boast only Christ

Ya Got to nip it in the bud

Sadly Don Knotts passed away from lung cancer on Friday. I do not think there is not one person who doesn’t know who Don Knotts is, whether by his name or character Barney Fife. You read about it HERE

Best Beer

This is the best beer I have ever tasted. I know it does not look like a typical beer bottle, but that is because this is not your typical beer. This is Lindeman’s Framboise Lambic and it is awesome. If you are not much of a beer drinker (like myself) you should try it at least once. It goes down real smooth and has a fruity taste unlike some other big names.
It is a little hard to find, but I happen to have found it at World Market.

Quote of the Day

When God calls a sinner, He does not repent of it. God does not, as many friends do, love one day and hate another; or as princes, who make their subjects favorites and afterwards throw them into prison. This is the blessedness of a saint; his condition admits of no altercation. God’s call is founded upon His decree, and His decree is immutable. Acts of grace cannot be reversed. God blots out His people’s sins, but not their names.-

Hymn of the Week 2-21-06

Come Boldly to a Throne of Grace

Come boldly to a throne of grace,
Ye wretched sinners come;
And lay your load at Jesus’ feet,
And plead what he has done.

“How can I come?” Some soul may say,
“I’m lame and cannot walk;
My guilt and sin have stopped my mouth;
I sigh, but dare not talk.”

Come boldly to the throne of grace,
Though lost, and blind, and lame;
Jehovah is the sinner’s Friend,
And ever was the same.

He makes the dead to hear his voice;
He makes the blind to see;
The sinner lost he came to save,
And set the prisoner free.

Come boldly to the throne of grace,
For Jesus fills the throne;
And those he kills he makes alive;
He hears the sigh or groan.

Poor bankrupt souls, who feel and know
The hell of sin within,
Come boldly to the throne of grace;
The Lord will take you in.

Justice and Mercy

20 For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.
21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.-Romans 3:20-26

Thank you God your elect do not get what we deserve. Thank you for your sovereign mercy!!
