CCM and theology

Steve Camp has a great article on the latest straw grabbing by CCM…check it out HERE.

In honor of that I thought I would post some lyrics that are being discussed elsewhere and get everyone’s take on them. It is a song by Big Daddy Weave.

Desperate. Grasping with a clenched fist.
I try to hold my own life in my own hand
Frustration sets in, thought I had this
Failure is the one thing that I can’’t stand

Oh, You remind me that taking care of me
Was never in my job description.
Oh, now I’m finding You want
to fix it all
You’re just waiting for permission

Does God NEED our permission? The author and finisher of our faith bound by MY choice?
God has created and planned everything from before time to beyond the end of time. God does NOT have a plan B!!! The sins of Adam and Eve did not throw God for a loop, they where apart of his wonderful plan of redemption.

It is very sad to see people getting their theology from CCM musicians who prob know less than the average Christian. To confess I was once one of those guys back in high school (and being really honest I prob still fall into that trap)whose doctrinal defense was lyrics from my fav CCM artist..and back then the doctrine was 10x better than what is out there today!!!

Not only should we engulf ourselves in solid theologically rich writings and teachers, but our “Christian” music should as well.
